This internationally recognised nature reserve was to receive an investment by CapeNature to boost its public interface.
Ruben Reddy Architects designed and managed various components of the project including upgrades to the existing visitors centre and new exhibition space, respectively.
The design of the facilities needed to compensate for their locations within 30m of the often hostile Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
The brief was interrogated and revised in order to exploit existing infrastructure and offer the client with increased deliverables within the original budget. The facilities included the hosting of live penguins and all related amenities and plant.
The exhibition space is a freestanding sculpture in its own right, which houses life-sized exhibits of local wildlife including a whale skeleton.
