Ruben Reddy Architects, in collaboration with Tabanlioglu Architects from Turkey were shortlisted as one of the 4 finalists for the Krasnodar Stadium Design Competition.
The Krasnodar Stadium was designed to comply with FIFA requirements and regulations to host matches during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The elegant seating bowl form was conceived to offer spectators the highest standards of viewing and comfort. The seating arrangement ensures excellent and uninterrupted views of the playing field from all seats within the stadium. The proposed seating bowl design exceeds the typical international best practice standards.
The dynamism and flow as a design generator is present from the precinct design and planning to the roof and seating bowl form, and even in the dynamic façade configuration. The roof was designed to maximise the amount of sunlight that reaches the playing area to encourage grass growth and maintenance without compromising the spectators’ comfort.
The form of the stadium resembles the Mobius Band, constructed on a 44.6 hectares site, the plan is a square with curved corners, nested in the landscaped public setting.
The design introduces innovative solutions adopting high technology principles for operational management, interaction with the environment.
